Two drugs, Cipro and Levaquin, belonging to the fluoroquinolone (Floxacin) family of antibiotics have notoriety. Cipro was in the news during the Anthrax scare a few years back as the antibiotic treatment of choice to combat Anthrax, and Levaquin has recently been linked to several incidents of ruptured tendons. Over 50% of the floxacins are no longer on the market.
